Time To Blend In

Location: Magistrate's Mansion
Timeline: MD-01, 2130

Vex had been to many parties, including some fairly... lively ones back at the academy. However, he had never been to one that was as opulent as the one that he was standing in right now. The Magistrate's home looked impressive from the outside, the inside was another matter entirely. Whole sections of the blue and white marble floor were covered in writing of some kind, Vex assumed it was the native tongue of the people, that was done in stunning brilliant blue sapphires. 

Rich woven tapestries hung from columns that made up the main hall. A shimmering indoor fountian ran the length of the main entertaining room while two serving areas were set up on either end. Ryan had gone off to talk to the magistrate, leaving Vex and Theo to mingle on their own. 

"You can't say they aren't welcoming," Theo commented while snagging some sort of mollusc from a passing waiter.

"It certainly is... extravagant," Vex said, taking a sip of his wine. It was a sweet drink that held a combination of citrius and berry flavors. "It reminds me of a wedding celebration back home."

"Really?" Theo said. "What are those like?"

"My own parent's wedding was a huge affair," Vex explained. "Weddings are a big deal for Unkari. Everyone looks forward to attending the wedding of a loved one, it's what most consider the greatest social event of year."

"Ah. Sounds a lot like how they do them up around Imbrium. It was a heavily Indian-ethnic area back during the early settlement years; they don't do celebrations at anything but full-force."

"That sounds like a sight to see," Vex responded. He took sip of his drink. "Do I embarress you Theo? I mean, are you embarrassed to be seen dating me?"

Theo stopped dead in his tracks. "No. Why would you think that? Wait, what did I do?"

"Every time we are around Ryan or anyone else from the ship you shy away from my touch," Vex said. "Are you worried that your boss won't approve? Are you not comfortable kissing me in front of our shipmates?"

Theo was quiet for a minute. "Do I? I mean, Ryan is currently Mr. Anti-Fun, but I'm pretty sure - no, wait. I'm sorry if that's what I've been doing. I'm not embarassed by you."

"I just want to make sure that I'm what you want," Vex said, with a heavy sigh. "Maybe I'm the one that's being too senstive. I just haven't really had that many relationships with people before... a least not a lot that make me feel the way that you do."

"Well, I promise more PDAs when we get back," Theo said. "Hell, if there's enough time between this mission and the ship's departure, we could swing by Luna for a few days."

Vex grinned and pulled Theo in close by the waist. "If you promise mi armor, then I believe you. At any rate, maybe we could get Ryan to loosen up some. I thought MACO's were all work and then played hard when they weren't working. Speaking of which, that's an odd jump to make... MACO to scientist."

"Don't look at me, he hasn't confided his mysterious background to me," Theo said, shrugging. "I think being in charge and responsible for the mission has gone to his head a little."

"Hmm, maybe we need to drag him out one of these nights," Vex offered. He grabbed another wine from the waiter. "See if we can't get him to loosen up a little. They do have a wide range of night time activities and I am sure that not all of them will offend his delicate sensibilities... have you noticed that everyone of the N'Talouns wears skin tight clothing. You can see the outline of pretty much everything."

"It's like a flashback to Starfleet uniforms from the 2360s," Theo commented, before his brain caught up with his ears. He gave Vex a bit of a side-eye.

"What?" Vex said in surprise. "I'm not looking to bed one, I'm just saying that it leaves nothing to the imagination."

"I'm not saying anything!" Theo said. "Except that I may need to hit the gym before trying on any local clothing."

"Your body is fine Theo," Vex said. "I wouldn't mind seeing more of it actually."

"You're doing that thing again," Theo replied, "where I can't tell if you're the double entrende on purpose or not."

"I mean as in an intimate sense," Vex said. "I thought that comment made it pretty clear... you're blushing again, did you know that?"

"Yeah, that's not surprising."

"I still find it sexy," Vex replied. "Come on, let's go talk to some of the locals. It will do us good to understand a little more of the environment we are going to be in for the next few months. I promise, no more double entrendes."
