|Physical Description||Vex has an athletic build. He has small blue colored scales that run between his shoulder blades, over the edges of his hips and on his shins. Vex is a member of his species’s third sex; he has both male and female sex organs, he identifies as Niri (having predominantly male characteristics and using male pronouns.)|
|General Overview||Vex is rather quiet, although intensely curious about the world around him. Vex is the first Unkari in Starfleet and as such had found it hard to adjust. He species is used to people being uncomfortable around him. Because of this Vex is hesitant to reach out and make friends, although once he does he is one of the most loyal people that you can call a friend.|
|Strengths & Weaknesses||Vex is highly creative in his thinking and loves solving problems. He’s also competitive and enjoys competing in various competitions. As a downside, Vex is shy and although he wants to make new friends, he find it hard to open up to people.|
|Ambitions||Vex wants nothing more than to be a good officer.|
|Hobbies & Interests||Vex enjoys solving problems in his spare time, no matter what they are. He also has an interest in psychology and sociology. Vex enjoys staying in shape, he likes to swim, run, and keep up on his species form of martial arts.|
|Languages||Federation Standard, Unkari Basic, Cardassin, and some Dominionese.|
|Family||Vex remains close with both his parents, despite their objections to him joining Starfleet.|
|Relationships||Vex has had a few romantic relationships in the past, although they usually ended badly. Due to his unique biological make up, Vex often fears getting close to others in both a romantic and platonic way.|
|Friendships||Vex has few friendships (again stemming from having difficulty getting close to people.) He did make two very close friends at the academy. Rose Ellison is a nurse stationed on Deep Space Nine and August Vale, who is a intelligence officer. He still talks to both frequently.|
|Personal History||Vex was born to Tyr and Cynna Krylore on the Unkari colony world of Thestus Prime. His father was the colony’s chief administrator and his mother a member of the Unkari Navy. Vex was born Vol’Tosvoth (a member of his species that has both male and female sexual organs) and identifies as Niri, meaning he has predominantly male characteristics.
Vex lived a happy childhood. He got involved in Tyian when he was seven years old. Tyian is a form of martial arts that uses graceful like dance moves to turn an opponent's strength against them. Vex would continue to practice and study the art of Tyian all through the academy. Vex was also scouted by the Unkari Navy (UN) for his high marksmanship skills and a candidate to enter the UN’s elite special forces unit.
The Federation made contact with the Unkari Empire shortly after the end of the Dominion War and eventually set up trade routes via the Bajoran wormhole. The Empire's own exploration program was nothing compared to the resources of Starfleet and Vex felt a certain fascination whenever he would hear stories about traveling to strange new worlds. Although the Empire was exploring, they were not moving fast enough for Vex.
Vex took the entrance exam for the academy, turned the opportunity down to go into the UN's special forces and chose to attend Starfleet academy instead.
|Pre-Starfleet Career||Vex has training in starship tactical operations, close quarters combat, and took several psychology courses while at the academy.|
|Starfleet Academy||Vex is the first Unkari to enter the academy and as such didn’t really know what to expect. Initially, Vex felt secluded and had a hard time fitting in. He was the first Unkari to attend the academy and feared that his unique biology might make fitting in difficult. Thankfully, Vex slowly overcame his fear, mostly by participating several different sports at the academy, including soccer and archery.
Due to the Unkari culture, Vex was already well trained in hand to hand combat, he was also very proficient at the use of ranged weapons. Vex also took an interest in psychology and sociology, though he found those to be more of a hobby than a serious track for his career. He has studied extensively in the history of space combat. He graduated near the top of his class and was assigned to the USS Highlander. This is his first assignment.
