Episode: Fishing Expedition
Location: Theo's Temporary Quarters, Verona IV
Timeline: MD-48, 2115

To say that Vex was enjoying his time on Verona IV would have been an understatement. Although he didn't completely understand the science behind it all that got both Theo and Ryan all giddy, he was happy to explore the various cultures that he had encountered. The natives had a flare for food and clothing as well as competitive martial arts. All and all, Vex found them to be very interesting. Even their ships, which seemed more tailored towards being astehtically pleasing were interesting combination of technology and art.

"I'm not sure I will want to go back to the Highlander and miss having this view," Vex said, he drapped his arm over Theo. "Really, maybe they can find a permenant place for you here and I can just retire from Starfleet."

They were sitting in the deck mounted hot tub of Theo's quarters, looking up at the flawless night sky and the endless moonlight ocean that stretched out as far as the eye could see.

Theo gave a skeptical Vex a skeptical look. "It'd be a little extreme to throw away four years of training just so you can haul lab equipment around for me."

"Oh that's not true at all," Vex said. "I am sure that I could find something to do here. After all, they do have security forces."

"They have some local cops. Even if they let foreigners join, you're seriously overqualified."

"I'd go anywhere with you mi armor," Vex said, giving Theo's cheek a kiss. "All you have to do is say the word."

"Well, I'm not going to," Theo said, blushing and ducking his head. "I signed up to see the stars, plural, and as nice as this planet is I've got about a thousand other biomes I need to check off my list before I settle down for any long-term studies."

"Amin mela lle Theodore Reyes," Vex said, holding Theo's face in his hands. He leaned and gave Theo a gentle kiss. "Amin mela lle, that's how you say I love you in Unkari."

"Amen mila lle?" Theo tried.

"Almost," Vex said, with a grin. "Try it one more time."

"Amin mela ile," he tried again. Then, inexplicably, he snickered.

"What's so funny?" Vex asked.

"Sorry," Theo said. "Totally the wrong thing to be thinking of in a romantic moment..."

"Oh really? And just what are you thinking?"

"But I was just thinking that this 'Unkari' can't be the only Unkari, right?" Theo said. "Anymore than Standard English is Spanish, and you're working on both. I'm going to have to race to catch up to you."

"Well, there are a few other dialects, mostly from the subtropical region but generally speaking if you can learn basic Unkari, they'll understand tou pretty much anywhere."

"If you say so," Theo said, alreadly plotting to find and download a complete multilingual Unkari lexicon.

"Yes, I do say so," Vex responded. "Maybe I'll just learn another langauge to say I love you in."

"Oh, boy," Theo said. "This is going to turn into a situation right out of a romantic comedy, isn't it? We're going to keep one-upping each other until someone gets buried under a pile of roses or something."

"Wouldn't that hurt? I mean roses are those plants with the thorns, right?"

"Yes, actually, that just makes my point about escalating romatic gestures all the more pointed."

"Well, I can't promise to stop all my romantic gestures but I think that I can manage not to dump a bunch of pointy plants on you."

"The pointy bits not what's supposed to be important, I think. They look and smell good. Maybe you can juice them too?" Theo shrugged. "I'm not an expert on amorous botany."

"Avery is a pretty good cook, perhaps we can ask him if you can juice roses."

"No... no, I'm pretty sure that I'd never hear the end of it if I did." Theo shook his head. "Never mind the roses. Maybe I'll have to import flowers from the Gamma Quadrant."

"We have a plant on my homeworld called the Moongrace, it's beatiful really. I always had a vase in my room full of the stuff when I was living at home," Vex said. He pulled Theo closer, giving him a quick peck on the lips. "Oddly enough, its name in the old Unkari tongue is Teo'dorum. Sounds kinda like Theodore, doesn't it?"

"Pretty close to the root, actually," Theo said. "Maybe there's some sort of ancient aliens linguistics going on there about the phoneme and things that look good."

"I love it when you talk all science like," Vex sad, with a grin. He pulled Theo closer, wrapping his arms around the other officer's neck. "But, I think I'm more interested in biology than linguistics."

"Oh, really. Let me guess - comparative anatomy?"

"Yes, take that the way that you think I meant it," Vex said, with a sly grin. "I think you pretty much know the difference by now."

"It certainly wasn't one of your more subtle phrasings, no," Theo said. "Want to do some in-depth and detailed study?"

Vex grinned again. He reached out and pulled Theo close, his hands disappearing beneath the bubbling waves. His voice dropped low and husky. "Very, very detailed study."

"Let's take this inside, shall we?"

"Or we could stay out here," Vex said. He let his fingers linger around the front of Theo's trunks, lightly tracing the skin just below Theo's navel. "But I suppose Ryan would get mad if we got ticketed for some sort of indecent exposure."

"I'd rather not be the next strange alien visitor to end up on the gossip pages," Theo agreed. "Or to shrivel up like an old lady, either."

Vex smiled and pulled Theo back in for a kiss. He was glad for the bubbles because Theo's breath hitched a little at the unpexcted contact, causing Vex to break out in a grin. Theo grinned back and kissed him again, this turning from a brief little peck into something much more passionate.

"Ok, enough, enough," Theo said after a minute, forcing himself to push Vex back. "God, you are so distracting, I can't even keep on-track long enough to escape a tub."

"Alright," Vex whispered, his voice low and husky as as Theo sucked in another breath due to the activity beneath the bubbles. "Let's go inside."
