Episode: Conference on Berengaria
Location: Berengaria

Neurological Implications of Common Disorders had been a packed talk and had ran over by quite a bit due to the amount of discussions that it had sparked between a number of the psychology professionals in attendance. As well as sparking conversations with those who were attending, a lot of what was discussed was already within the studies that Melony had read over. However she had managed to bump in to Counselor Samantha Frost, who she had trained at the academy with. Their discusson of how isolation affects the neurochemical aspects of the brain and how to reverse it effectively for each species had continued even after the talk had ended.

For example most Vulcans were a lot less helpful when it came to talking to a counselor and usually coped better with medical intervention, though neither could cite an example of when they had encountered a successful treatment of a Vulcan, so began speculation of how to best treat them.

"... I don't suppose I could just hit them over the head and inject them before they came round."

"You're not trying to gang up with others in your quest to harvest my brain now, are you?" Tim asked sarcastically, catching the very end of the conversation as he approached the two counselors standing outside the meeting room.

"Its only fun on unsuspecting victims, you know my plan where is the fun in it now." She answered not even turning to look at him and smiling at the puzzled look her friend gave her.

"Can I steal my counselor for a minute?" Tim asked of her companion. "I promise you can get her back for more brain stealing planning sessions later."

"Only if I get an explanation to the brain stealing thing, its nothing sinister is it?" Samantha replied looking at Tim slighty concerned. Melony shook her head smile still stuck in place "I'll explain later Samantha I promise, and no its nothing to worry about."

Once out of earshot of her friend Melony glanced at Tim "So what on earth do you want?"

Tim led Melony away from the other attendees and into an unused meeting room. Once the door was closed and he was sure noone would overhear them, he asked, "Have you noticed anything strange about people here over the past few days?"

She looked at him and raised her eyebrow waiting a second "You mean aside from the lunatic that pulled me away from a discussion talking about brain stealing, its a good job she's unlikey to think much more than you being a bit unhinged....." she broke off.

Tim couldn't help but shrug at that, though for once he didn't address the comment directly. "Have you noticed anyone being particularly forgetful? Like they need to be reminded of how you know them?"

"Your serious aren't you?" she hesitated "Well the only thing thats been odd is one or two people seem to have forgotten about some events that happened a while ago, I don't know what's caused this amnesia or if its just my imagination I was going to look in to it more when we got back."

"Yeah, I thought it might just be me too, but I'm damn sure some of the things people are forgetting are far too memorable to just slip from someone's mind."

"Amnesia doesn't exactly just pick random memories either, I don't think we can leave this till the conference is over, it could be contagious I'm not sure we should involve anyone else yet either not until we have a bit more evidence or a way to tell who is affected." she said quietly

"There's something else, too," Tim continued, thinking back to his overheard conversation in the corridor. "I overheard a conversation between two people - I couldn't see who they were, but they were talking of a 'next target' - the security chief of a minor starbase that hasn't been mingling with anyone while they've been here. I think this goes beyond simple amnesia; they talked of being able to use the station covertly once they 'have' him. We need to be very careful looking into this."

A devious smile crept across Melony's face. "So I guess we will be breaking a few rules then to investigate this. There is an office further back that is empty for the meantime and I happen to have the code to a few of them. So... fingers crossed we can get in to it," she said begining to head in the direction of the office.
