Episode: Lost Property
Location: De Salle Engineering Room

Grif let out a grunt as she helped Commander Cole replace the panel over the anti-matter injector assembly. "All right then." She muttered to herself as she dusted off her hands while Cole tapped the control panel beside the hatch to restart the injector.

A loud clunk resounded from the panel before a smooth humming noise began to fill the room emanating from the panel. The De Salle's chief engineer smiled as they moved back to the main control table in the center of the room. "Another system down." The older man commented as they ran a list of systems the combined crews of the Highlander and the De Salle's engineering departments had repaired.

"Looks like the engines should be good to go now. All that's left is navigation and making sure the life support systems are up to snuff." Grif replied as she stared at the board. The navigational deflector still needed repairs, the sensors, as well has hull plating in more than a few critical areas all of that though was well under way. Both the advanced experience of the Highlander's engineering crews and the experience and familiarity of the old NX ship's engineers helped to expedite the process. Especially with their ability to replicate parts as needed.

"And then we can rejoin the rest of civilization...." Harrison said a heavy dose of sarcasm laced through his voice.

Grif arched an eyebrow looking up at the man across the table. "Not looking forward to stepping out of time?" The Trill asked as she stepped around and leaned up against the table beside Harrison. "I'll admit it's pretty different then what you're used to."

"I.. I'm just not sure what I'm coming home to." Cole replied truthfully as she set his hands on the tabletop and took a deep breath before looking over at his counterpart. "It's been what... two centuries since I called home? Everyone I knew is dead."

"Welcome to the club." Grif said with a chuckle, "Membership fees are due on the third Tuesday of every month."

Harrison simply looked at the Trill with a face of confusion not understanding in the least her comment.

Grif nodded to herself more than anyone as she laughed again, "Right you guys only met the Trill recently before you went missing." The spotted woman said as she rotated a bit to face the man. "Back then we kept it a bit of a secret, but the Trill. We're a little unique, we look human on the outside but on the inside we have something called a Symbiote. Well some of us that is." She waited for the nod of understanding before continuing on, "This symbiot its a... another consciousness that joins with the hosts own. We gain all of our symbiotes memories, some of its skills, we learn more about ourselves really."

"Right.. so.. you're two people in one?" Harrison said as she tried to figure it out within his head.

"Well.. more. I have six sets of memories apart from my own, or rather Griffen's own."

Harrison's eyes grew larger as he looked over the spotted woman with burns down the side of her neck. If she had never told him he would have simply gone on thinking she was just another humanoid alien. He had meet so many during the travels of De Salle and yet he had so many more to learn about still it seemed. "That's alot of... confusion?"

"It can be at times." Grif said with a shrug, "But we get a lot of training to keep it all straight." She waved a hand as she turned away, "That's all besides the point though. I kind of get what you're going through. I have memories from back when Humans first met Trill. I know just how far you've all come. I lived through it. It will take time but it will all make sense in the end. Starfleet has some great services to help you adapt and Im sure the crew will stick together, work through it all as a unit. You wont be in this alone."

Harrison took a deep breath as he considered what the Trill had said. She wasn't wrong. He wouldn't be in this alone he had friends aboard the ship that he could count on to work through this. He had even made some new ones in the woman standing beside him and other Highlander crew members. It would be hard but he could do it. "Plus side... I get to work with all that fancy new technology whenever I want once I get through the refreshers."

Grif laughed, "That is true. Technology certainly has gotten a lot more fun to tinker with. The things you could only dream of back then is daily stuff."

"Oh?"

"Yeah. No one's shown you a holodeck yet have they?"

"No... but that sounds amazing."

"Lets finish up dictating the tasks then I'll take you to one. I've got the perfect program to show you too."

"Sounds like a plan."
