Episode: Fishing Expedition
Location: Theo's Quarters
Timeline: Before departure

Vex had practically skipped to Theo's quarters. The more time that he spent with the young officer, the more he grew to like him. Theo was smart, funny, compassionate and as far as Vex could remember had one hell of a body. Of course Vex had yet to see that body yet but that didn't matter to him. He enjoyed just being in the presence of Theo, something that was very different than any other relationship he had to date. He pressed the door chime and waited to be let in.

Inside, Theo was wondering if he should have changed to something a bit nicer than his usual casual clothes. The problem was he had nothing nicer, excepting his dress uniform, which was right out. Replicating something last-moment seemed unhelpful, because for a supposedly nigh-perfect machine with his exact measurement its products never seem to fit quite right. Welp, too late for that.

"Evening, Vex," Theo said, letting him in.

"Hey," Vex smiled, he gave Theo a quick peck on the lips."So, I got the latest vids from the World Cup back on Earth. Care to watch them?"

"Yes, yes, absolutely. I've been avoiding spoilers, but sooner or later I'm going to run into someone else on the ship who follows it," Theo said. "I know there's one crazed maniac who wouldn't hesitate to spare my virgin ears."

"Yeah, Avery made me give him a copy too. I made him promise not to come interrupt us and implied that he did he might be forced into an uncomfortable sexual situation," Vex said. "He turned bright red, stammered several times and walked off. It was very amusing."

"That's... nice?" Theo replied, somewhat nonplused. "You're getting along, I take it?"

Vex nodded. "He's a very interesting character... I can understand why you care for him so much."

"Yeah, 'interesting character' is one way to put it. Just so you know, you should be very skeptical of any stories he tells you. He's very fond of exaggeration and tall tales."

"Avery mentioned an incident involving you and a Eli Sparks and an Andorian in the academy sonic showers," Vex said, with a smile. Truthfully, Vex had asked for any and all embarrassing stories that Avery could share about his friend. "Apparently, he has video evidence. That does not sound exaggerated."

"Wait, I did what?" Theo was pretty sure he would have remembered such an event.

"Actually, I was going to ask you, how was the Andorian?"

"He wasn't even on the same planet as me while I was at the academy!" Theo protested. "He was on a starship, in deep space! God, I should have known that telling him not to embarrass me would backfire."

Vex grinned and pulled Theo in close, resting his forehead against the science officer's. "Has anyone ever told you how cute you are when you get all annoyed like that?"

"Oh no," Theo said, starting to grin just a little. "No, no, no. The last thing I need is for the two of you to start riling me up just because I look 'cute'."

"I'm fairly certain that is now impossible," Vex said, leaning down to kiss Theo. "Besides, you're cute all the time. Just more cute when you get riled up. Avery has promised that he will not reveal any actual embarrassing stories."

"I really need to be more comprehensive in my promise-extraction, don't I?" Theo said. "I just assumed 'don't tell any stories' would be enough and forgot 'don't make up any either'."

"I could break his arm for you," Vex replied with a shrug. He wasn't really going to break Avery's arm, he actually was becoming rather found of the uppity young operations officer. "I think he means just to be amusing, besides are you honestly telling me that you've never told any stories about him?"

"He generally hasn't maintained a relationships long enough to make it worthwhile," Theo said. "I'd have ended up wasting all my good material."

"Ah, I did see him get friendly with an ensign the other day... perhaps that will blossom into a relationship that will last long enough for you to embarrass him."

"I don't know, maybe a mutual cease-fire on that front would be a good idea for both of us. Otherwise it could accidentally escalate into world war four."

"You two certainly have an interesting relationship," Vex said, with a raised eyebrow. "It must prove very entertaining."

"If we ever leave Starfleet," Theo said, "we could make a living as a comedy duo."

"Now, that would be fun to watch," Vex smiled. He leaned in and kissed Theo. "You ready to watch soccer... or should we go back to the making out part?"

"You're being way too binary there," Theo replied. "As the ancient saying of my people goes, 'Porque no los dos?'"

"Why not do both?" Vex asked, with a raised eyebrow. He had been brushing up on his Spanish ever since he started dating Theo. "Did I get that right?"

"Exactly!" Theo grinned at Vex's understanding. "Well, okay, we probably can't do both and pay attention, but I think we can at least manage a good cuddle."

Vex responded to Theo's grin by grabbed him around the waist and moving them both to the couch. He pulled Theo close, wrapped his around the other officer's waist and situating himself so that Theo was snuggled up against his chest. "How's this?"

"I think we've found a nice equilibrium. Hopefully we won't punctuate it," Theo said, snickering. "Right? Get it?"

Vex rolled his eyes. "That wasn't as funny as you think it was good thing you look so cute saying it."

"The rest of the science team would have thought it was hilarious. Well, except maybe the physicists."

Vex kissed Theo's cheeks. "I'm sure they would have."

"That's because scientists are beings of wit and good taste."

Vex laughed, lightly running his fingers up Theo's sides. "Fine, you're right. Can we just sit back and watch the game now? I really wanna see how the Blue's do against the Starkillers."
