Lieutenant Commander Ciaran McIntyre wasn't used to spending as much time as he had been behind a desk but with the Highlander on a fairly standard patrol around the Lembatta Nebula and still keeping a fairly sizable distance between them and the Klingon/Gorn problems, it had been a good opportunity to catch up on some paperwork.

Stepping out into the bullpen bleary-eyed and chugging down the last remnants of some - now stone cold - coffee, McIntyre saw that he wasn't alone, a miracle at nearly two in the morning.

"You're up late, Warrant." He said with a pasted-on smile, approaching the desk of Steline Chineylo, the new security officer they had taken on board during their last resupply. "How are you finding things?"

"Ummm...A little exciting actually, sir. I have never wanted something so badly to be honest." And it was true. She was just being honest.

"Well, keep at it." He replied with a smile, realising that he probably shouldn't be encouraging his staff to work themselves into early graves. "Or you can always pick it up tomorrow. What about you Ensign?" He turned his attention to Krylore who seemed to be up to his neck in reports. The kid was committed, he'd give him that.

"Tactical arrays are functioning at optimal efficiency," Vex said, looking up from his terminal. Truthfully, he wasn't all that surprised by the fact that there were this many people up in the middle of the night.

"Morning Karil." Mac smiled in the direction of the Vulcan whose presence in the Security Centre this late at night was far from a surprise. "How goes it?" The Vulcan seemed to be intensely concentrated on something on his monitor. "Karil?" McIntyre repeated the question before giving up.

He skulked around the security centre for a few moments before coming to a decision - he would go and get some sleep. By get some sleep he meant 'have a quiet drink in the lounge' but that was far from important to anyone but him. "I'm out for the night, everyone. Make sure you get some sleep though, I need you all at the top of your game. You never know what might be around the corner."
