"The USS Highlander is good ship. Small and Sturdy. The operating systems are sound, and contain few faults. That said, I am sure the new crew will find something wrong with it eventually. Though, from reading their files, its likely they will almost immediately. I suspect the main issue they will have to deal with though, will be that it is not the Endeavour.
"My role for this assignment is that of Chief of Operations. I should be thrilled. Just out of the academy, and already at a top position. That should be enough for any man. It's a shame I know it isn't real. Though who knows? I may decide to leave and keep this position? I have the skills to fit the role after all.
Ha. Look at me. Just out of the academy, on my first assignment, recently promoted and already talking about the possibility of quitting. Fat chance of that!
"My target is Lieutenant Ethan Kessel. Poor man. Being assimilated and recovering is not unheard off and the rest of the crew will doubtlessly provide as much support for him as possible. But being assimilated changed him. I've hacked his counsellor's reports on him, and he is one of most tormented souls I've ever met. I've also read the mission report filed regarding this new Borg assimilation technique. A Borg controller, linked directly into a ship is new. We have no idea what long lasting effects could have effected him physically, let alone mentally.
During his assimilation, he assumed the form of 'Scorpios'. Designation One of All. Pretty egotistical if you ask me.
"The last thing we need is this 'Scorpios' to awaken. A Borg assimilation will not sit well with High Command, so I've been tasked with ensuring this never happens. Normally, a recovery poses little threat, but as I said this new kind of assimilation he went through, is like nothing we've seen. Who can say what is truly gone after that? High Command his hoping a more familiar environment will assist in his recovery, and make it easier to clarify his mental state.
"Hopefully 'Scorpios' is long gone, and the Lieutenant can get on with his life. With time, it is my belief that his mental scars will heal as well as the physical. He deserves that at least.
"I have been assigned to watch him. Make contact, and keep an eye out for any Borg activity. Establishing a new friendship should help him open up. A friend knows a friend better then psychologist nine times out of ten anyway. As soon as I can establish that Ethan is really 'Ethan' I can be on my way, and leave him in peace. I would like that to happen.
"If he awakens, I have been ordered to terminate him.
"I just hope it won't come to that."
