Starfleet has decided -sigh- to award the USS Kukri command to Commander Shackleton, leaving myself without a command of my own. It is the board's ruling I am too inexperienced to handle 3 whole pips. Typical Starfleet bullshit, I worked my ass off for this...

Computer, strike last sentence.

I am to be the First Officer on the USS Highlander, I know the name, but not the crew attached to her. Intrepid class, made around the same time as the Sabres, so hopefully some of my now extensive engineering experience will aide me in the goings on.

I just feel like such a fool for thinking no news was good news. Why did I get my hopes up?

Haven't yet to look into anything more in depth about the crew, past a glance at the manifest. The position of Chief of the Boat is available, I'll ask if Davis wants the job, he'll get a new dot for his rank slide, that'll make him happy.

Also leaving meeting the new Captain probably a bit too long. Been assigned for a day now, Kukri was given over this morning. Should really pull my act together. Act like an XO, and stop wallowing in self pity.

One more trip to the bar wont hurt.
