A Conversation With The Past

Posted on Fri Mar 10th, 2017 @ 4:08am by Lieutenant Ryan North

Episode: Fishing Expedition
Location: Verona IV - Ryan's Temporary Quarters
Timeline: MD-01, 2100

Ryan cracked his neck as soon as he set foot insisde his room. They had been hard at work all day, catalouging their newest discovery of an algae that appeared to emit some sort of coating that actually repelled and nuetrilized the large amounts of bio-electrcity that most of the native species on the planet seemed to have in abundance. On that note, they still weren't all that much closer to discovering just how that was possible although both he and Theo had a few ideas. He stripped off his uniform shirt and was about to go for a dip in the deck mounted whirlpool when his desk com chimed to life.

"Yes?" he asked, tapping the icon.

"I have Jackson North on the line, he wishes to speak with you," the communications officer said. "Shall I put him through or take a message?"

"You can put him through," Ryan said, taking a seat at the desk, Moments later, the screen showed his identical twin brother, with a healing black eye and the telltale signs of battle on his face. "Uh oh, you look like hell."

"Oh its good to see you too bro," Jackson laughed. "I hear they shipped you off to some water world."

Ryan grinned and gestured around him. "It's actually pretty amazing, we're getting to do some fascinating work here and the scenery isn't bad either."

"That's my boy, getting right back into the saddle, right?"

Ryan frowned. "Not like that."

"He's been gone a while now Ryan, you are allowed to have other relationships. How many times do we have to go ove this?"

"Relationships yes," Ryan said, leaning back in his chair. "But I don't think that counts for one night stands."

"No, no, no," Jackson replied, shaking his head back and forth. "We are not going have that conversation again. Who did they send with you on this little errand?"

"My only other officer and a securty officer by the name of Vex," Ryan answered. "I think they are loving the fact that they got assigned to this place, as temporary as it is, together."

"They friends?"

"More than friends I think," Ryan answered, with a smirk. "They are trying pretty hard to hide it but they keep staring at each with the same look that I used to give Diego."

Jackson whistled. "Oh wow, yeah you might want to tell them that they aren't fooling anyone."

"I'm very tempted too," Ryan said. "You should have seen them at the party the magistrate threw the evening we arrived. They kept looking at each other like they wanted too rip each other's clothes off."

"Go easy on them, you were in love like that once."

"Maybe," Ryan said. "How's your love life?"

"Better than yours," Jackson responded with a grin. "But nothing to really brag about. We're getting ready to ship out to do some joint operations training with the Bajorans. They've built an intelligence network that rivals our own."

Ryan nodded. "They had to be resourceful under the Cardassins, frankly, they might have an even better network than ours."

"That wouldn't surprise me," Jackson nodded. "Anyways, I need to get going. I hope that you keep enjoying your time on water world. And here's another thing, why don't you try and have some fun while you are there. We both know that Diego wouldn't like you just sitting around being all sullen the entire time."
