New Missions!

Hey everyone

I'm very pleased to say that with my last post, we can now consider "Lost Property" to be a wrap! I've left the mission open for another few days for any additional posts to go into it, but for the most part we'll now be moving onto our mini missions to bridge the large amount of time we'll need to get through to catch up with the fleet timeline. I have also now deactivated the characters of Lt. Cmdrs Hawke and McIntyre, as the end of that mission allows us to move them on in-game and open up their positions for fresh blood. Before I go into more detail about that however, I want to announce a couple of promotions.

First off is our operations officer, Jean Reynard. Since coming aboard this character has become an integral part of the sim, and I've very much enjoyed reading the posts that have been coming out as a result. I'm pleased to promote this character to Lieutenant Commander - he'll also be taking over as the ship's second officer vacated by McIntyre.

The second promotion is our science officer, Ryan North. Again, since coming aboard this character has become a central one in our game, and the resulting posts have always been of a very high quality. I'm pleased to promote this character to full Lieutenant.

Now, as I said, I have deactivated the characters of Hawke and McIntyre, allowing us to find new people to fill their positions. I already have a candidate sorted for our new first officer, and once he has finished the final touch-ups on his character's biography, I'll make an extra announcement. I'll be advertising for a new security chief (and a new helmsman, as we've been without one for a while) shortly, so if you know of anyone who would be interesting in applying for either position, please send them my way.

Onto our next missions; as I've said previously we'll be doing a series of mini missions to help bridge the gap between the end of Lost Property and our travel to the Delta Quadrant. These all come under the banner of a mission group called 'Between Operations', and currently there are three of them:

• Preparations will deal with the three-month refit of the Highlander to prepare us for our new assignment. As well as taking on extra supplies and technology to enable us to handle extended stays in deep space, I have also had approval from the fleet's Director of Resources to include a Quantum Slipstream Drive in this refit. More details of that coming soon. The primary characters running in this mini mission will be Reynard, Grif and our new first officer (though given the nature of it, I expect the rest of us will probably pop in and out of it occasionally).


• Conference on Berengaria will feature myself and the counsellor, as we travel to a Starfleet conference to brush up our knowledge in our respective fields (begrudgingly on Tim's part, and partly to get him out of the feet of the engineers performing the refit). We'll have a bit of a mystery develop while we're there that'll hark back to one of the early TNG episodes.


• Fishing Expedition will follow a team led by North who will take our Delta Flyer to an oceanic planet where Starfleet has set up a joint research initiative with the local population. Naturally, whilst they are there things will not go entirely to plan. North, Vex and Reynard's NPC Vega will be the primary characters here.
