Highlander

The Highlander is now on Social Media!

It's something I've been thinking about doing for a while, but the Highlander is now on Social Media!

I've created both a Twitter account and a Facebook page for the sim, both in an effort to increase our overall online presence, but also as a way to try and help us bring in potential new players from these popular sites. Most sims still stick to recruiting via Yahoo!Groups and the old pbem advertisement forums, but I'm going to try out modernising the way I recruit for the Highlander, by using social media as well as focussing our presence elsewhere - for example on the Kuro-RPG site and the Anodyne Productions site, which are both highly visited by the simming community. Hopefully this will see us bring in some fresh blood, and if it's successful I'll look to see if we can expand it into other places like Google+ and the other sites cropping up here and there.

I encourage those of you who use Facebook or Twitter to like our page/follow us - we only have a few posts on each site so far, but if I've set them up correctly and future posts on Twitter should get replicated on to our Facebook page, and I'll try and keep updates and interesting posts coming on at least a weekly basis. Any new posts that go up will also get highlighted on there, as well as any awards that we are given.

If any of you have any suggestions as to how we can improve our online presence or recruitment program, feel free to send me a message! Also feel free to message and tweet our social media accounts for anything!

You can find us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/USSHighlander and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/USSHighlander

I've now also added a Twitter widget to the sidebar of our customised light and dark skins (Highlander and Highlander2) - it should be set to match the background of each skin, and also the link colour, so hopefully it fits in well.

At some point soon I'll also add Twitter and Facebook icons somewhere on the site that is unobtrusive, but capable of quickly linking people through to our relevant pages.
