Starfleet Rank Promotion Ladder

Created by Captain Tim Williams on Sat May 25th, 2013 @ 9:56pm

The following is the rank promotion ladder for Starfleet. By standard, you do not move laterally (across) the ladders; in special circumstances, one may request to be moved up into the next category; for example NCOs may become a Warrant Officer if they have enough experience, and both Warrant Officers and NCOs may apply for an officer candidate program and progress up to the officer ranks, but these must be matched by In Character actions and must take an appropriate amount of IC time.

This table shows the rough equivalency of experience between the different rank ladders; not of seniority. Whilst a Master Chief Petty Officer has likely served Starfleet for long enough to have an experience level equivalent to a Commander, they are still out-ranked in all matters by an Ensign.

No officer can be promoted above the current Commanding Officer and the highest promotion allowed is only equal to the sitting Executive Officer.
