Personality Profile

General Overview Quiescent, spiritual and deliberating, Shar doesn't fit the mold of an ex-terrorist. Her rage runs deep and still, like a river brushing against an old oak tree. Cracks through the foundation, seeping through. Shar is a very serious and reserved person, who can be moved to immovable displays of stubborn opinion when prompted. Shar possesses a hidden degree of competence and awareness, and tends to rely on other people underestimating her. She views everything as a competition, always keeping one step ahead of everyone else- this is perhaps a result of the Kohn-Ma Cardassian cultural indoctrination present in her early childhood. Think like them. Become them. Annihilate them. To this day, Shar has an extraordinary distrust and dislike of Cardassians.

Shar's name is pronounced -'uh-,ray-kah-'wah-,see shaar.

Personal History

Personal History Shar was raised on Bajor as part of the Kohn-Ma, an extremist terrorist group dedicated to dismantling the Cardassian presence on Bajor. Kohn-Ma operated as a Fifth Column, with officials at the highest levels of Cardassian government. Shar was trained explicitly on Cardassian culture and mannerisms before she could walk, and she received the same training Cardassian children receive to resist telepathic intrusion.

Kohn-Ma were known for using children to gain access and sympathy from Cardassian officials, but these children were commanded to kill once they got close enough. Some were Ka'teereli, or Bound to the Prophets, and it was considered a highest Right to take out as many Oppressors as possible in death.

Having spent most of her childhood and young adulthood as a soldier for Kohn-Ma, Shar chose a different path than her peers when Bajor was finally liberated. Knowing that she couldn't attend any Bajoran institution for her past ties, she took the first charter out of DS9 to Earth and studied nursing at a Federation university, attaining her masters before the Dominion War hit and she was back out on the front lines. This time as a healer, for the freighter CTV Kelland.

Wanting to do more against the invasion force of the Dominion, Shar entered Starfleet's Enlisted Academy at Mars and passed basic training just in time for the Alpha Quadrant to crumble. The Keltor Treaty, responsible for the repatriation of splinter groups such as the Kohn-Ma, forgave Shar's past indiscretions on an official level and she graduated the enlisted academy with top marks. She was deployed to Talar at a Federation outpost- selected for her skillset running a ground operation, Shar and her team helped the Talarians establish a hospital on Kechu to combat the growing Dominion takeover of the Alpha Quadrant.

When the Dominion finally moved out, Shar stayed in the Talarian Republic and worked at Talar's first-ever Federation sponsored hospital on Kechu, assisting its administration and taking on patients injured in transit through Talarian space.

Reluctantly, Shar agreed to Starfleet's request to pull her from Talar and station her on the USS Highlander. Exploration and discovery wasn't exactly her cup of tea, but she didn't have much of a choice. They needed people, and she was people. She packed up her things, said goodbye, and boarded the Highlander with little fuss.
Education Shar possesses a masters of nursing and is a clinical nursing specialist in the field of emergency medicine.
